Kemkes Earns Lions' First SSC Player of the Week Honor to Close Out Regular Season
WINTER PARK, Fla. - Saint Leo senior Laura Kemkes has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC. This marks the first Player of the Week honors for Saint Leo this season.
Kemkes led the No. 7 Lions to wins over No. 36 Palm Beach Atlantic (9-0) and No. 8 Rollins (6-3). At No. 3 singles, Kemkes went 2-0 during the week with wins over PBA's Jessica Wharton (6-3, 6-1) and Rollins' Shannon Etten (6-1, 6-1). In doubles actions, Kemkes teamed with Anastasia Wagner in No. 1 doubles action against PBA where they won 8-1. Against Rollins, Kemkes teamed with Pauline Helgesson for a 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.
