WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's and women's tennis team completed action Sunday at the C.L. Varner Memorial, hosted by Rollins College. Three Lions, Bruno Sisti, Aloua Adjenak, and Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio competed in the main draw, while Adrianna Daszkiewicz, Phoebe Di Leo, and Jake Fleischer won their consolation brackets.
At the main draw, Sisti fell to Lander's Poutignat in tiebreaker, semifinals action. Meanwhile, the doubles tandem of Adjenak and Gonzalez-Tarrio dropped a main draw doubles match to Landers' Axelsson and Poutignat, 8-2.
Meanwhile, Daszkiewicz ran through a pair of opponents as she dropped Rizzolo and Budai in consecutive sets, 2-6, 6-1 (7), and 6-2, 6-2, to claim the Flight C Back-Draw championship.
Di Leo followed it up with a Flight C Back-Draw title as she defeated Cote, 6-3, 6-0, and Dimtrova in a straight-set title match, 6-4, 6-0.
On the men's side, Fleischer took home Flight C Back-Draw accolades as he upended Comings, 6-1, 6-4 and edged Axelsson in the title match, battling back from a set down, 3-6, 7-6(8-6).
The Varner Memorial closes out fall competition for the men's and women's squads as they will now await ITA preseason rankings which will come out on November 9.
