Saint Leo Continues to Challenge Region’s Best at USTA/ITA Regional Championships

LAKELAND, Fla. – Day two of the USTA/ITA Regional Championships presented stiff competition for the Saint Leo women's tennis as both Adrianna Daszkiewicz and Emily Singleton dropped hard fought Round of 16 matches, Friday afternoon from Wynee Warden Tennis Center on the campus of Florida Southern.

Daszkiewicz lost a 6-1, 7-5 decision to the fifth-seeded Sabine Goge of Florida Southern, while Singleton was taken down by the No.2-ranked Ioana Ivan from Lynn.

Coralie Pesenti did produce a victory in the Flight A Consolation bracket, however, as she beat Eckerd's Amy Naula in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. She will challenge Rollins' Ashley Rosenberg in Saturday quarterfinal action.

Meanwhile, the Lions' doubles tandem of Daszkiewicz and Singleton, after earning a Round of 16 win on Thursday, were edged in a quarterfinals decision to the  top-seeded Lynn tandem of Val Confalonieri and Iona Ivan, 8-6.

The women will return to action at the USTA/ITA South Regional Championship on Saturday, September 29, at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center on the campus of Florida Southern.
