PRINCETON, N.J. – For the first time in program history, the Saint Leo women's tennis team catapulted into the top-15 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national poll. The Lions currently stand No.15 in the newest edition, a two-spot jump from their previous ranking.
Additionally, the Lions rank third in first NCAA South Region poll. The top eight teams from each region will be granted a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Lions are one of four Sunshine State Conference teams to make an appearance in the top-15.
Individually, Saint Leo saw significant improvements as both Laura Kemkes and Emily Singleton moved into the top-25 on the singles side. Kemkes moved from No.34 to No.13, her highest ranking ever, while Singleton improved 15 spots from No.40 to No.25.
The Kemkes/Singleton doubles team continued their top-ten standing as they rank eighth.
The Lions will take to the court again on Thursday, March 29, as they host the No.19-Florida Southern College Moccasins in a pivotal SSC contest. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
