Lions Improve Standings In Latest ITA South Region Rankings
SAINT LEO, Fla. –The No.17-ranked Saint Leo women's tennis team continued its climb up the south region ladder as they laid claim to the fifth spot, while the No-19-ranked men maintained the sixth position in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) South Region rankings.
The women, who previously held the sixth spot, now sport a 12-4 record and are in the midst of a three-match winning streak. The team also holds an 8-4 overall mark in region.
One the men's side, the crew continues a steady hold on the sixth spot, having started the season 10-5, including a 6-5 record in the region.
Individually, the Lions' Laura Kemkes skyrocketed up the regional singles chart as she went from being unranked to No.3 in the region. Meanwhile, her teammate Emily Singleton improved four spots and now stands at ninth in the south region.
Kemkes and Singleton, who currently rank eighth nationally as a doubles duo, continue a stronghold on the No.3 position.
For the men, Victor Lozier improved one spot to 11th, while Matt Nicholson-Lewis and Aloua Adjenak have a grip on the 13th and 15th singles positions, respectively.
Nicholson-Lewis and Lozier, the nation's No.21 ranked doubles team, improved four spots to No.3 in the latest doubles standings.
National rankings will be released on Wednesday, March 28.
