FLORENCE, Ala. – Taking to the court for the first time with their newly acquired No.17 ranking, the Saint Leo women's tennis team (7-3) bounced a pair of south region opponents as they downed North Alabama and Delta State, 7-2, in a rare road doubleheader, Saturday afternoon from the UNA Tennis Complex.
In the doubleheader, the women's tennis team controlled both contests from the beginning as they collected wins in 14 of 18 matches.
After taking two-of-three doubles matches against the No.44-ranked North Alabama Lions, both Adrianna Daszkiewicz and Jeanette McDonald forced their opponents to at least one set shutout win as the team solidified their sixth region win.
Later against the Lady Statesmen, the visiting Lions proved to be superior again as they downed Delta by the identical 7-2 score. Saint Leo swept through doubles action, which included an 8-2 conquest by McDonald and Daszkiewicz at No.3-flight doubles.
The Lions first four on the singles side secured the match for Saint Leo as they surrendered a mere 10 points over the course of the opening eight sets.
The Lions will continue their three-match road swing with a trip to Samford University where they will challenge Gulf South Conference opponents Alabama-Huntsville. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
