SAINT LEO, Fla. - In preparation for his first season as head coach of the Saint Leo tennis program, James Bryce has announced the addition of University of Tulsa graduate Marta Marcinkowska as his first assistant coach.

Marcinkowska comes to Saint Leo after concluding a Division I playing career at the University of Tulsa where she regularly competed against Conference USA and top national talent.  During her career she played regularly in all three doubles slots, finishing her career at the No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles position where she won the C-USA Championship her junior and senior years.

“Marta will help raise the level of this program with her extensive Division I playing experience,” Coach Bryce said of his new assistant.  “She will help in all aspects of both programs, especially on the women's doubles side of things.”

A native of Poland, Marcinkowska had a career singles record of 46-29 and doubles mark of 65-33 at Tulsa, which ranks her seventh on the all-time doubles wins list at Tulsa.

An extensive background in the sport of tennis prior to playing for the Hurricanes, Marcinkowska was the three-time Vice-Champion of Poland for the Under-18 and Under-21 divisions in doubles play in 2004 and 2005.  She also won three national singles titles as a junior and earned her highest national ranking of 17th in Under-18 singles and 10th in Under-18 doubles.

Bryce added, “After working with Marta this previous summer I knew that she would be a great addition to the Saint Leo Athletic Department.  Her knowledge of the game and international experience will be vital in the Sunshine State Conference.”

Earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Tulsa in December 2009, the Lions’ newest assistant earned her minor in coaching as well.  New to the NCAA coaching ranks, she has previous experience with instruction as she was a tennis pro at Sportime in Amagansett, NY and served as an instructor at the charity tennis camp First Serve in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Marcinkowska resides in Wesley Chapel, Fla. and will be pursuing her MBA degree at Saint Leo while coaching the Lions.
