BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 7 seeded Saint Leo University women’s tennis team (9-16) dropped their second consecutive match at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, falling to Florida Tech 5-0 Friday evening from Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Lions saw their day get off to rocky start, dropping each of their three doubles matches. The Panthers continued their excellent play into singles action as they took the first to matches to secure the shutout win.

Jeanette McDonald and Shaena Keefe gave the SLU their best shot at victory in doubles play, as the duo went point for point with the Tech tandem. In the end though, Andrea Madrigal and Monica Price secured the final two points for a 9-7 win.

Saint Leo could not garner a point in singles either the Panthers took wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots. With the match secured, the four ongoing matches were left unfinished and dropped the Lions to 0-2 in the Tournament.

The loss pushes Saint Leo into the seventh-place match against No. 8 seed Tampa. The match is set for Saturday, April 18 at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton, Fla. with first serve coming at 3:00 pm.
