Women’s swimming takes four events at Tampa Relays

TAMPA, Fla. – Saint Leo women's swimming captured first place in four events on its way to a second-place finish at the University of Tampa Relays, Saturday morning at the UT Aquatic Center.

The Lions tallied 154 points in the meet, trailing the winning team from Tampa with 174 points. The University of Findlay (Ohio) was third with 82 points, followed by Division III York College of Pennsylvania with 30 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Junior Natalia Garriock and freshman Annie Lindstrom were a part of all four first-place teams at the Tampa Relays, while senior Nicole Weber was on three of the four first-place squads.

The Lions opened the meet with a win in the 3 x 100 Butterfly Relay, with Garriock, Lindstrom, and Weber combining post a time of 2:58.02.

The three then teamed up with sophomore Maftuna Tuhtasinova to win the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:12.30, edging the University of Findlay by .33 seconds. The same four swimmers also captured the 400 IM Relay, clocking a time of 4:12.37.

The Saint Leo women ended their meet with a victory in the 400 Free Relay, with junior Carylyn Waite, junior Olga Britton, Garriock, and Lindstrom finishing with a mark of 3:46.65.

NEXT UP

Saint Leo women's swimming will be back in competition on Friday, Jan. 20, when they travel to Melbourne, Fla., to take on Florida Tech and Lynn University in a double-dual meet. Start time for the meet is 2:00 p.m.
