Garriock earns SSC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo junior Natalia Garriock turned in four of the fastest swims in the Sunshine State Conference last week, and was rewarded with SSC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors for the week ending October 30.

Competing in a dual meet against Rollins College last Friday, turned in NCAA "B" cut qualifying times in the 50 Freestyle and the 200 Backstroke, in addition to helping the Lions post "B" cut times in the 400 Medley Relay (3:49.65) and the 200 Free Relay (1:36.49). Both relay times were the fastest in the SSC this season, and second-fastest in Division II.

Garriock's time of 23.78 in the lead-off 50 of the 200 Free Relay is the fastest 50 Free time in the SSC this season, the fourth-fastest in all of Division II thus far in 2016-17, and reached the NCAA "B" cut qualifying standard.

Finally, Garriock turned in winning times in both the 100 Backstroke (57.63) and the 200 Backstroke (2:02.40) in the win over Rollins. Her 200 Backstroke time was an NCAA "B" cut qualifying mark, the fastest time in the SSC this year, and second-fastest in all of Division II; the 100 Backstroke time was second-fastest in the SSC, and ninth-fastest in Division II.

Altogether, Garriock helped post 40 points for Saint Leo women's swimming in a 198-64 win over Rollins.

The Lions return to competition on Thursday, Nov. 17, when they head to Melbourne, Fla., to compete in the four-day Florida Tech Invitational.
