FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Six Saint Leo women's swimmers qualified for finals competition on the third day of the NSU Shark Invitational on Monday. As a result of their efforts, the Lions were able to hold on to seventh place with 106 points as one day remains in the meet.
Distance swimmer Stephanie Martinez again saw her name in the top 10 with a seventh place finish in the 500 Free with a time of 5:10.28 that kicked off the finals session of Day 3.
The 100 Breaststroke saw two Lions advance in the finals with Paula Carvajal finishing atop the team standings in 14th with a time of 1:09.49. Carvajal was just three spots ahead of teammate Rachel Cunio who finished 17th with a time of 1:09.95.
Three Saint Leo swimmers appeared in the 200 Fly with Allyssa Black leading the team behind a 2:12.87 time and a 13th place finish. Only a tenth of a second behind Black was Chantal Bouthillier in 15th (2:13.01). Chloe Pellican also represented well in the event with a 20th place finish posting a time of 2:16.13.
Just one day remains in the pre-conference meet as the Lions will be back at the NSU Aquatics Center for the first competition of the final day at around 9:30 a.m.
