Lions Seventh to Open Up NSU Shark Invitational

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swim team opened up the four-day NSU Shark Invitational as the Lions totaled 30 points and currently sit in seventh place in the 10-team meet.

In completing the first eight events (four women's events) the Lions saw distance specialist Stephanie Martinez qualified for the 1000 free and finished in 14th of 43 swimmers with a time of 10:40.53 in the first event of the finals.

Bianca Muniz set the tone for the Lions in the 50 free with a time 24.78 and a 16 place result in the finals.

On the relay side, the Lions 'A' relay team of Muniz, Chantal Bouthillier, Paula Carvajal and Allyssa Black finished 12th in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:51.20.  The 'B' relay team of Katie Sanacore, Kristy Marques, Chloe Pellican and Rachel Cunio finished at 1:59.75 and in 26th place.

The Lions will be back at the NSU Aquatics Center for the first competition of Day 2 at around 9:30 a.m.
