Women’s Swimming Earns Commanding Wins over Rollins and FIT in Double-Dual on Senior Day

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's swim team made easy work of their competition, sweeping Rollins College and Florida Tech in double-dual action at the Bowman Center Pool, Saturday morning.  The Lions defeated the Tars by a score of 86-27, and handed the Panthers a 97-15 defeat.

The Lions took first in all 13 events, beginning with the 200-Yard Medley Relay.  The foursome of Allison Cary, Sandra Stopczynska, Chloe Pellican, and Bianca Muniz touched with a time of 1:54.86 for the top spot to open the morning.

Kaitlyn Hite and Lindsey Albanese finished one-two in the 200-Yard Freestyle, earning times of 2:00.77 and 2:04.78, respectively.  Hite then earned second in the 100-Yard IM with a mark of 1:05.46.

Cary took the top spot in the 50-Yard Backstroke, touching with a time of 29.83.  The Mechanic Falls, Maine native also took home the top finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a mark of 1:03.94.

Stopczynska touched first in the 50-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 31.80, and went on to earn two more top finishes in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:09.66, as well as in the 100-Yard IM with a mark of 1:03.99.

Pellican earned the top touch in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a mark of 1:01.77, before finishing second in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:05.19.  She then ended her day on a high note with a first place time of 28.36 in the 50-Yard Butterfly event.

Muniz claimed a pair of top finishes in the 50 and 100-Yard Freestyle events with times of 26.00 and 56.44, respectively.

Marques rounded out the first place finishes on the day, earning a time of 5:31.13 in the 500-Yard Freestyle.  The sophomore also brought in a second place time of 1:15.63 in the 100-Yard Breaststroke.

Saint Leo ended the day on a high note, pulling in the top time in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay as Cary, Marques, Hite, and Muniz brought in a mark of 1:44.93.
