Kabangu earns D2CCA honors

D2CCA Release

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Saint Leo senior Arielle Kabangu was named to the Division II Commissioners Association Women's Soccer Honorable Mention announced by the D2CCA on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Kabangu, the Lions' All-Time leading scorer with 65 career goals, was selected to the D2CCA Honorable Mention list and was the lone Sunshine State Conference player to make any of the teams.

Earlier this month, Kabangu was honored by the D2CCA as she was selected to the All-South Region First Team, one of two SSC players to make the team. Joining Kabangu was fellow senior Selena Jaimes on the First Team All-South Region.

Kabangu was named to the Daktronics First Team All-America in 2014 as well as Second Team in 2013.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with first team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. A total of 53 student-athletes representing 29 different institutions filled out the three teams and the honorable mention squad.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies, and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
