Seventh-Ranked Women’s Soccer Hosts Florida Southern on Senior Night

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The seventh-ranked Saint Leo women's soccer team gears up to host Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern on Wednesday evening, closing out their regular season home schedule at University Field and honoring their distinguished seniors at this evening's contest.

Eight outstanding student-athletes will be recognized for their exceptional effort and dedication to the Lions throughout their playing careers.  Dari Alcantara, Cassie Barbaresi, Aija Bent-Trinder, Jasmine Johnson, Kelcee Mai, Jaime Smith, Pia Soesemann, and Francesca Williams will look to make their mark in the final home game of the regular season tonight, as they play for the final time on University Field.

The Lions enter into tonight's showdown with an overall mark of 12-1-1, and 4-0-1 in conference play, while the Mocs make the short skip over to Saint Leo carrying an overall record of 7-5-1, and 2-3-1 in conference action.

Leading the way for the Green and Gold is Alcantara, who has registered 10 goals and 4 assists for 24 points so far in her senior campaign.  Barbaresi is close behind in overall points, having tallied seven goals and a team-best nine assists for 23 points.  Soesemann, who has seen time in six of the Lions' 14 games, has notched eight goals and added three assists for 19 points, good for third overall despite missing time on the pitch.

Saint Leo has put 43 goals on the scoreboard so far this season, and with 37 assists the Lions have compiled 123 overall points and are fifth in the country in scoring offense with an average of 3.07 goals per game.  The Moccasins enter into tonight's matchup with 21 goals and 25 assists, good for 67 points.  Led by Kara Moore, who has tallied four goals and four assists for 12 points, the Mocs have seen nine players put goals on the scoreboard, while 12 have notched assists.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 22, when they make the trek down south to Miami Shores to take on Barry University in SSC action.  Kickoff against the Buccaneers is slated for 7 p.m.  For the latest news, updates and information on the Saint Leo women's soccer team, visit
