KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Saint Leo women's soccer team set a new program best, coming in at No. 5 on the latest NSCAA Division II National Poll, announced Tuesday. The Lions climb one rung from their previous sixth-place position, and enter into the latter portion of their 2011 campaign with an overall record of 11-0-1.
The Green and Gold tops the list of three Sunshine State Conference schools listed on this week's national poll. After defeating then 10th-ranked Rollins by a score of 2-0 on Friday, October 7, the Tars drop three spots to No. 13. Florida Tech also checks in on this week's rankings, earning a spot at No. 19, descending one slot from their previous position at No. 18 last week.
The Lions sit with pride on top of the South Region rankings, heading up a group of six SSC schools to rate a record good enough for top-ten in the region. Rollins and Florida Tech come in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern sit in a tie at fourth.
Lynn University gets a nod for sixth, while the University of Tampa completes the list of SSC schools represented on the regional order at eighth. West Florida fills in the gap at seventh, while Valdosta State and North Alabama round out the list at No. 9 and No. 10, correspondingly.
