Saint Leo, Fla. (December 6, 2006) – A trio of Saint Leo University women’s soccer players were named to the NSCAA/adidas All-South Region Team announced on Wednesday.
Juniors Jennifer O’Connor (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and Lizzie Seedhouse (Sheffield, England) were First Team selections, while goalkeeper Lauren Hudson (So., Odessa, Fla.) was a Second Team honoree.
“Each of these players helped our program to reach a new level this past year,” Saint Leo head coach Ged O’Connor said. “I am proud of the fact they have earned this honor, and pleased that their performances throughout the past season have not gone unnoticed by others.”
Each player was named to the All-South Region Team for the first time in their careers. O’Connor was also a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection this season, while both Seedhouse and Hudson claimed Second Team honors. O’Connor and Seedhouse will now be eligible for the NSCAA/adidas All-American Team.
Saint Leo set new program records for wins in a single season (14), conference wins (6), fewest losses (3) and earned its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament during the 2006 season. The Lions also advanced to their first-ever SSC Tournament Final after their highest-ever finish in the league in second-place.
Only national semifinalist Tampa and South Region finalist West Florida had more selections to the 2006 NSCAA/adidas All-South Region Team. Tampa had a total of six players named, including four First Team members, while UWF had four total selections and three named to the First Team.
