Saint Leo, Fla. (October 31, 2006) – A program-record six Saint Leo women’s soccer players were selected to the 2006 All-Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Team, it was announced Tuesday by SSC Commissioner Michael J. Marcil.

Lions’ junior midfielder Jennifer O’Connor (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) led the way as a First Team selection, while Lauren Hudson (So., Odessa, Fla.), Lizzie Seedhouse (Jr., Sheffield, England), Bridget Godwin (So., Ocean Springs, Miss.), Hannah Beard (Fr., Liverpool, England) and Sara Macko (Fr., Brandon, Fla.) were all Second Team selections.

Seedhouse and Hudson were honored for the second straight year, while each of the four remaining players was named to the All-Conference Team for the first time in their careers.  Saint Leo trailed only SSC regular season and tournament champions Tampa (8) for the most players on this year’s team.

Saint Leo (14-3-1) earned its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament and will face the University of West Florida on Friday in a South Region Semifinal.  The Lions and Argonauts will face off at the University of Tampa at 5:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the Internet via the Saint Leo Athletics Audiocast Network.  Visit for “Listen Live” links and schedule information.

Tampa claimed four of the five individual award winners, with Bobby Johnston repeating as Coach of the Year, Malana Winskas repeating as Defensive Player of the Year, Shelby Kuni earning Offensive Player of the Year, and Jocelyn Charette garnering Freshman of the Year honors. Rollins’ Lindsay Giblin was chosen Player of the Year.
