Tampa, Fla. (October 27, 2006) – Jessica Lebohner (Fr., Seminole, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute to propel the Saint Leo University women’s soccer team (14-2-1) to a 1-0 win over Nova Southeastern University (11-3-2) in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday at Tampa’s Pepin Stadium.

The Lions stretched their winning streak to seven matches, and won by the 1-0 scoreline for the third straight match.  Saint Leo will now face top-seeded Tampa in Sunday’s SSC Tournament Final at 1:00 p.m.

Lebohner’s second goal of the season came after the two sides played an even match during the first half and for the opening 33 minutes of the second.  Hard work on the right by SLU freshman midfielder Hannah Beard (Liverpool, England) eventually saw the ball bounce free to Bridget Godwin (So., Ocean Springs, Miss.).

Godwin’s cross deflected off the crossbar and directly to teammate Evelina Viiri (So., Heby, Sweden).  Viiri played a square ball to an unmarked Lebohner, who fired into an empty net for the eventual game-winner.

Saint Leo kept the Sharks at bay through the closing minutes, and allowed just two shots on target throughout the entire match.  The Lions kept a clean sheet for the fourth consecutive match and the 12th time this season.
