Saint Leo, Fla. (October 25, 2006) – The Saint Leo women's soccer team (13-2-1, 6-2 SSC) will face Nova Southeastern University (10-2-2, 4-2-2 SSC) in the semifinals of the Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Tournament following NSU's 2-1 win over Lynn University in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday.

The second seeded Lions and third seeded Sharks will play at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Tampa's Pepin Stadium.  By virtue of finishing second in the league standings, Saint Leo earned a bye in the quarterfinal round following the most successful regular season in program history.  Wednesday’s other quarterfinal match saw fifth-seeded Florida Tech upset fourth-seeded Rollins 1-0 in overtime to advance to a semifinal match against Final Four host Tampa on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Saint Leo defeated Nova Southeastern earlier this season in the team's only previous meeting during 2006.  The Lions won in extra time when senior forward Casie Poyssick (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) scored her 50th career goal with 16-seconds remaining in the first overtime period.  Friday's match will mark the first-ever post-season meeting between the two schools.

Friday’s semifinal between Saint Leo and Nova Southeastern will be broadcast live on the Internet via the Saint Leo Athletics Audiocast Network.  Should the Lions advance to the Championship match, it too would be broadcast live at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Visit SaintLeoLions.com for “Listen Live” links and up-to-date broadcast schedule information.
