Saint Leo, Fla. (October 11, 2006) – Senior forward Casie Poyssick scored her second game-winning goal in as many home matches to lift the Saint Leo University women’s soccer team (10-2-1, 4-2 SSC) to a 2-1 overtime victory against the visiting Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish (7-8) on Wednesday night.

Poyssick gathered a loose ball just inside the area and fired into the left corner for the game-winning strike in the 98th minute of the match.  The goal was the senior’s program-record 51st career strike.

Saint Leo took the lead in the 54th minute when midfielder Jennifer O’Connor (Jr., Fernandina Beach, Fla.) earned a penalty after making a driving run into the penalty area.  The junior stepped forward to convert the resulting spot kick for her seventh goal of the season.

PBA equalized in the 74th minute when Brandi Bianco’s pass eventually fell for Meg Agnew at the top of the penalty area.  Agnew curled a shot beyond the reach of Saint Leo goalkeeper Lauren Hudson (So., Odessa, Fla.) to send the teams into the extra period.

The Lions outshot the Sailfish 23-4, including a 15-2 advantage in shots on target during the match.  Saint Leo improved to 4-1-1 in overtime matches with the victory.

Saint Leo will hit the road this weekend for a trip to St. Augustine, Fla. and a non-conference match against Flagler College.  The game will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14.
