Women's lacrosse earns IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor

SAINT LEO, FLA. – The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team was been named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad for their successes in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

The IWLCA has named 276 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2015-16 academic year. The Lions were one of 45 Division II honorees recognized In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the year.

"We are really proud of the team's efforts once again in the classroom," head coach Lesley Graham said of her team's academic success. "They truly appreciate the balance of student and athlete, constantly striving to obtain success in both areas."

This is the third time the program has earned the IWLCA's distinction in the program's five-year history.

Earlier this spring, the women's lacrosse team saw 14 individuals earn SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors after earning a 3.2 or higher, led by graduating senior Allie Sheftall, who finished with a 4.0 GPA in her last semester.
