Lions fall in season opener, 11-6
HICKORY, N.C. - The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener on Saturday afternoon to host Lenoir-Rhyne, 11-6.

The Lions were led offensively by senior Allie Sheftall with two of the team's six goals.
Freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Halley finished the game with a total of seven saves.

How it Happened

1H | The Bears took a quick two-goal lead until Abbie Ross cut it in half with the Lions first goal of the game with 13 minutes left in the half. Only a minute later, Allie Sheftall followed with a free position goal to tie the game at two all. The Bears netted another one, but Saint Leo quickly followed with a Jennifer Doyle goal. Kelsey Burns added one to give Saint Leo the lead. | Saint Leo 4-3 |

2H | Lenoir-Rhyne came out similar to the first half and netted a goal right away, tying the game. Freshman Kaylah Walstad snuck one in for her first career goal to give the Lions their last lead of the game before the Bears added three in row, to go up 7-5. Sheftall netted her second goal, the last goal for Saint Leo, with 10 minutes left to play. The Bears closed the game with a 4-0 run. | Lenoir-Rhyne 11-6 |
