Five Lions individually honored by IWLCA

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Five Saint Leo women's lacrosse student-athletes gained Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll honors for their diligence in the classroom. The Lions had five students honored, the most of any team in the Sunshine State Conference.

The IWLCA honored 178 student-athletes from 48 different institutions with inclusion in the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division II Academic Honor Roll.  The Lions' Academic Honor Roll members include 2015 graduate Joanna Chadwick, and rising seniors Cassie Miller, Jennifer Doyle, Kelly Smigiera, and Allison Sheftall. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

"It is the hardwork of individual players such as these that make our team so successful in the classroom", said head coach Lesley Graham. "They epitomize the balance of student and athlete, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. I am very proud of their consistent efforts to keep propelling Saint Leo women's lacrosse academic profile upward."

Last week, Saint Leo was one of 49 Division II institutions recognized by the IWLCA as an Academic Honor Squad. 2015 marked the second year the Lions have received the distinction in the programs four-year history.
