Women's Lacrosse falls at no. 10 Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. -- The Saint Leo women's lacrosse team stumbled Wednesday afternoon against No. 10 Limestone College. The Lions snapped their four-game winstreak in a 19-3 road loss to the nationally ranked Saints. Abbie Ross scored all three goals for the Green and Gold at Saints Field in Gaffney, S.C. 

The 8-1 Saints held the advantage in every offensive statistical category, outshooting the Lions 34-7 and won 20 draw controls to the Lions 4. Limestone was also 12-fo-12 on clear attempts, and scored 4-of-11 free position shots. 

Ross was Saint Leo's only offensive threat, scoring three goals for the third consecutive game. The freshman scored two goals in the first half, both assited by Alix Murray. In the second half, Ross found the back of the net unassisted. 

Senior Brittany Millsap and Kaylyn Kearns split time in goal for the Lions. The pair combined for 10 saves, four and six saves respectively. 

Saint Leo returns to Universtiy Turf Stadium Friday, March 20 for its final nonconference game before opening Sunshine State Conference play April 1st. The Lions will host Lenoir-Rhyne at 4:00 pm.
