Women’s lacrosse gears up for a packed schedule in 2015

SAINT LEO, Fla. – A record 12 home games, a full-fledged conference slate, and three contests against 2014 NCAA tournament participants highlight the complete 2014 Saint Leo University women's lacrosse slate unveiled Wednesday.

Led by fourth-year head coach Lesley Graham, Saint Leo women's lacrosse charted a school record for wins on its way to a 10-7 mark last season.

"As we continue to build the program here at Saint Leo, we are continually looking to challenge ourselves with tough competition," said Graham. "Our full schedule is loaded with some of the top teams in the country which will push our players day in and day out to be on top of their game.  Our team goal is to be in contention for an NCAA tournament bid, and strength of schedule is paramount in that process. To reach the top of our sport, we need to be able to contend with the best of the best."

The Lions open season number four with seven straight home games, starting with a visit to University Stadium by Molloy on Friday, Feb. 13, for a 7:00 p.m. contest. Roberts Wesleyan College (February 18) from Rochester, N.Y., arrives at Saint Leo the following week, with Gannon (March 4) and 2014 NCAA tourney participant Pfeiffer (March 6) facing the Lions at University Stadium in the first week in March.

Saint Leo will play host to Bloomsburg (March 9), Merrimack (March 11), and Belmont Abbey (March 13) in a five-day span from Monday, March 9, to Friday, March 13, before the Lions take the road the following week to face Newberry (March 16) and NCAA qualifier Limestone (March 18).

Home games versus Lenoir-Rhyne (March 20) and Erskine (March 28) round out the slate of games in March, before Sunshine State Conference play begins in April.

Saint Leo's first SSC women's lacrosse game will be Wednesday, April 1, when the University of Tampa comes calling at University Stadium for a 7:00 p.m. contest. Road games at SSC rivals Rollins (April 3) and Florida Southern (April 7) ensue on the schedule, before the Lions host Shorter on Monday, April 13.

The Lions travel to St. Louis, Mo., to face Lindenwood on April 18, before closing the books on the regular season by hosting Florida Tech on April 22. Lindenwood was another NCAA tournament last season, meaning Saint Leo's 2015 slate will feature three out of the four South Region teams from the 2014 NCAA tournament.

The inaugural Sunshine State Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament will take place on Friday, April 24, and Sunday, April 26.

"Pride Pass" season tickets are available for Saint Leo women's lacrosse, giving fans access to the full 2015 slate.
