Bring on the SSC! Women’s lax prepares for league play in 2015
Oct 16, 2014
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's lacrosse will have its sights on a new goal as it begins its 2015 season.
A conference championship.
The Lions will begin their inaugural season playing a Sunshine State Conference slate this spring with four league games. Saint Leo's first SSC game will be at home on Wednesday, April 1, when the Lions host the University of Tampa at University Stadium.
"We are really looking forward to our first year as a conference sport," said Saint Leo head women's lacrosse coach Lesley Graham. "Even though it is the inaugural season for Sunshine State Conference women's lacrosse, the talent in our league is second-to-none and we are working every day to make it to the conference championship game."
"These games will be hard fought battles against worthy opponents. It's nice for the players to now have the opportunity to receive recognition for their accomplishments throughout the season with conference accolades," said Graham.
Saint Leo will take to the road for its next two SSC games – Friday, April 3, at Rollins College, and Tuesday, April 7, at Florida Southern College.
The Lions complete the SSC regular season on Wednesday, April 22, when they host Florida Tech.
The SSC Women's Lacrosse Tournament will begin on Friday, April 24, with semifinal game, followed by the championship on Sunday, April 26. All games will be played at the site of the higher seed.
The complete Saint Leo women's lacrosse schedule will be released at a later date.
