"We are very excited for this trio to help lead our youthful team into the spring season," said head coach Lesley Graham. "Alyssa, having collegiate sport experience for the last three years, brings confidence and leadership into her role. And the addition of Jojo and Christina to the mix adds youthful excitement and encouragement."
Viscomi enters into her senior year having seen time on the basketball court for Saint Leo before joining the women's lacrosse program for its inaugural season. The St. Cloud, Fla. native concluded her first season on the lacrosse field starting all 14 games for the Lions as a defender as well as tallying six goals and two assists while collecting 27 ground balls and causing five turnovers.
Chadwick takes on the leadership role for the Lions as a sophomore. The local product from Tampa, Fla. played a big part in the Lions' attacking unit, and was a key component in the midfield. Starting in all 14 contests, Chadwick scored 18 goals and tacked on three assists for 21 points, and added 42 ground balls, 20 draw controls, and 15 caused turnovers to her stat sheet.
Fellow sophomore Minneci rounds out the trio. Minneci, who hails from Manalapan, N.J., saw significant time in all 14 games, notching 18 goals and dishing out six assists for 24 points. The attacker also picked up 44 ground balls, good for second best on the team, and grabbed 22 draw controls while causing 14 turnovers.
"All three players are tremendous leaders both on and off the field, and are a great representation of Saint Leo University and our Core Values," Graham continued. "As we continue to develop and advance our program, this group has all of the qualities to lead us in the right direction and take us to the next level."
The Lions' inaugural season concluded with a 5-9 overall record that included plenty of highlights and firsts along the way. With 15 returning players and 15 fresh faces on the roster for 2012-13, Graham will look to the veteran forces and bright new talent to help showcase the team with high hopes for their second campaign.
