Coors climbs to second in round 2 at NCAA championship

FINDLAY, Ohio – Saint Leo senior Marie Coors climbed into second place on the individual leaderboard during Thursday's second round at the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship in Findlay, Ohio.

Coors fired a three-over 75 at the par 72, 6,066 yard Findlay Country Club, giving her a five-over 149 through 36 holes.

She trails tournament leader Ann Parmerter from Dallas Baptist by three strokes, after Parmerter shot a one-over 73 in the second round.

Maria Regina Gonzalez from St. Mary's University (Texas) and Dallas Baptist's Hanna Harrison were tied for third place with a six-over 150, one stroke behind Coors.

Starting at no. 10 for the second round, Coors bogeyed the par 4 no. 13 and par 3 no. 17 holes, and was two-over at the turn. She carded her only birdie of the day at the par 3 no. 2 hole, and took a double-bogey at no. 8, a par 4, to go one-over on the front nine and finish the round at +3.

Coors will start her third round on Friday off the no. 1 tee at 8:40 a.m., and will be playing alongside Tarleton State's Casey Wild and the University of Tampa's Kiira Riihijarvi. Wild is currently sixth overall at 152 (+8), while Riihijarvi is tied for 10th at 154 (+10).

On the team leaderboard, Dallas Baptist holds the lead with a 610 (+34), and has a six stroke lead over second place Barry University. The Buccaneers trail DBU by six strokes with a 616 (+40), but closed the gap by four strokes over the 10-stroke margin following Wednesday's first round.
