Coors atop leaderboard at South Super Regional after day two

ELGIN, S.C. – Saint Leo senior Marie Coors will head into the final day of the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Super Regional atop the individual leaderboard, after carding a one-over 73 in Tuesday's second round at the Members Club at Woodcreek.

Coors has a four-over 148 over 36 holes, and enjoys a one stroke lead over Lynn's Krissy Ortiz and Barry's Charlotte Puts. Ortiz and Puts shot a 75 and 76 respectively at the par 72, 6114 yard Members Club at Woodcreek course, and are at 149 for the tournament.

Coors put together a much more consistent and steady round on Tuesday, after a more up-and-down tour around Woodcreek on Monday. She made par on 15 holes and carded a birdie at the par 3 no. 7, and finished the day with just two bogeys at no. 1 and no. 16 – both par 4s.

Altogether, Saint Leo finished the day with two golfers among the top ten, and three among the top 20.

Junior Amanda Jakobsson was ninth on the leaderboard after firing a five-over 77 on Tuesday, putting her at an eight-over 152 through 36 holes. Jakobsson birdied three of her final five holes on Tuesday, helping her overcome a triple-bogey at the par 4 no. 10 hole. She recorded par on six holes and carded six bogeys over the course of Tuesday's round.

Freshman Izzy Lawrence was among a group of five golfers tied at 18th overall with a 156 (+12) through two rounds. Lawrence shot a six-over 78 on Tuesday, recovering from a tough front nine where she went five-over to shoot a one-over 37 on the back nine.

Junior Margine Arguello was tied for 51st overall at 163 (+19), and carded an eight-over 80 in Tuesday's third round.

Saint Leo carded a 307 in Tuesday's second round, a two stroke improvement over their Monday effort, and finished the day second in the team standings with a 616 (+40). The Lions are four shots behind tournament leader Barry; the Buccaneers lead the 12-team field with a 612 (+36) through 36 holes, with four golfers among the top 20 individuals.

Nova Southeastern turned in the best team round of the day with a 301 (+13), and is third overall with a 36-hole total of 619 (+43). Lee University (622, +46) is fourth while Rollins College (623, +47) is fifth.

Saint Leo will begin the third and final round of the South Super Regional off the no. 1 tee starting at 9:30 a.m. with Arguello. Eriksen will tee off at 9:40 a.m., followed by Lawrence (9:50 a.m.), Jakobsson (10:00 a.m.) and Coors (10:10 a.m.).
