Women’s golf named no. 2 seed for NCAA South Super Regional

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golf will be the no. 2 seed in the NCAA Division II South Super Regional, when play begins on Monday, May 8, at the Members Club at Woodcreek golf course in Elgin, S.C.

The Lions were among 12 teams to receive notification on Monday that they had earned a berth in the South Super Regional, along with six individuals from teams not included.

The NCAA Super Regional bid is the seventh overall in program history and fourth in a row for the Lions, who have now qualified for the NCAA South Super Regional in all four seasons under Head Coach Tommy Baker.

Sunshine State Conference rival Barry University received the top seed for the South Super Regional. Joining Barry and Saint Leo out of the SSC were no. 3 seed Rollins, no. 4 seed Nova Southeastern, no. 5 seed Florida Tech, and no. 6 seed Lynn University. Among the six individuals also invited were Kiira Riihijarvi from the University of Tampa.

No. 7 West Florida, no. 8 Montevallo, no. 9 Lee, no. 10 West Georgia, no. 11 Flagler, and no. 12 Armstrong State round out the field of 12 teams.

The top three teams from the South Super Regional, along with the top three individuals not from the top three teams, will advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship on May 17-20 at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio.
