Women’s golf third after two rounds at Lady Moc Classic

LAKELAND, Fla. – Saint Leo women's golf finished the first 36 holes in third place out of 18 teams after the first two rounds of play at the 2017 Florida Southern College Lady Moc Classic at Grasslands Golf & Country Club.

The Lions carded rounds of 302 and 298 on Monday, for a 36-hole total of 600 (+24) at the par 72, 6,085-yard Grasslands course.

Saint Leo is seven strokes off the pace set by tournament leader Barry University, who finished the day with a 593 (+17). Rollins College is in second place with a 598 (+22), while the host squad from Florida Southern is two strokes behind Saint Leo in fourth place with a 602 (+26).

A total of six strokes separate the second from sixth place teams in the crowded upper-half of the field.

Individually, four of Saint Leo's five golfers finished in the top third of the field of 98 golfers.

Senior Marie Coors is one of three golfers tied for third place on the individual leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 145 (+1). She shot an even-par 72 in the first round, and a one-over 72 in round two.

Junior Amanda Jakobsson fired a 76 and a 74 for a six-over 150, and is tied for 17th overall. Junior Vilde Eriksen is tied for 26th overall on the individual leaderboard after carding rounds of 77 and 75 for an eight-over 152.

Junior Margine Arguello was one stroke behind Eriksen and tied for 28th overall with a nine-over 153. She fired a 77 in round one and came back to shoot a 76 in her second trip around the course.

Freshman Izzy Lawrence posted an 87 in the first round but rallied to fire a 78 in the second round and carded a 21-over 165 for the day. She is tied for 73rd on the leaderboard.

Barry's Tilda Larsson sits atop the individual standings with a one-under 143, after turning in rounds of 70 and 73 on Monday. Rollins' Page Lyle is second with an even-par 144 , while Florida Southern's Amanda Gartrell and West Florida's Fabiana Salazar are knotted with Coors at one-over.

The third and final round of the 2017 Lady Moc Classic takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Grasslands Golf & Country Club, with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
