Saint Leo jumps two spots since the last poll
SAINT LEO, Fla. – The latest Golf World/WGCA Division II College Coaches' Poll of the spring 2014 season has been released, and the Saint Leo University women's golf team jumped two spots to No. 12 in the nation after being ranked No. 14 in the past two polls. The poll combines the resources of Golf World magazine and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Sunshine State Conference, the top Division II women's golf conference in the country, dominates the top-15 with seven teams listed, including the top four teams in the country; Lynn, Barry, Florida Tech and Rollins coming in at Nos. 1-4, respectively.
Nova Southeastern is ranked No. 7, and Florida Southern rounds out the SSC team's in the top-25 at No. 14.
Most recently, Saint Leo finished fifth at the Sunshine State Conference Championships held at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla., April 13-15. The Lions turned in a three-round total of 915 (297-305-313), just three strokes behind Barry, and Nova Southeastern who were tied for third. The Lions' Marie Coors won the SSC individual title shooting a three-round total of 218 (66-75-77).
Saint Leo will get back to action on May 4-6 when it takes part in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at Lake Jovita.
