Marie Coors Takes SSC Championship; Lions Finish Fifth

Coors finishes the three-day event with a total of 218  

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's golf standout Marie Coors went wire-to-wire to win the individual title at the 2014 Sunshine State Conference Golf Championship held at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla. 

Coors, who got out of the gate quickly in the opening round on Sunday taking the lead after shooting a career-best score of 66, finished the three-day event with a total of 218 (66-75-77), two shots ahead of second place Emily Rymer of Florida Southern (73-72-75-220). 

As a team, the Lions finished fifth shooting a three-day total of 915 (297-305-313), just behind Barry and Nova Southeastern who finished with a three-round total of 912 and shared third place. 

Lynn won the team title shooting an 897. 

Clare Connolly (77-72-80) and Lauren Petty (73-78-78) both finished tied for 16th shooting a 229. 

Heather Petronis (90-80-78-248) and Lauren Shuford (81-85-84-250) rounded out the Lions' competitors finishing 34th and in a tied for 35th, respectively. 

Saint Leo will get back to action on May 4-6 when it takes part in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at this same Lake Jovita course.
