Clare Connolly joins Coors as one of two Lions' golfers in the top 10
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's golf standout Marie Coors entered the clubhouse after the second round of the Sunshine State Conference Golf Championships, on Tuesday, with a three-stroke lead, and will look to go wire-to-wire as she heads into the final round on Tuesday at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City.
Coors, who shot a first round score of 66 on Sunday, finished the second round with a 75 (141) and is three shots ahead of second place Jessica Bradley (70-74-144) of Lynn, who is even par after two days.
Joining Coors in the top 10 is teammate Clare Connolly who shot a second round total of 72, and moved from a tie of 19th after the first round into ninth heading into the final round. Connolly posted a two-day total of 149.
Lauren Petty sits just outside the top 10, in a tie for 11th, with a two-round total of 151 (73-78).
Saint Leo will get back to action on Tuesday, April 15, for the final round of the SSC Championships. With the potential of inclement weather tomorrow, Tuesday's final round will have a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. Coors will be in the first group teeing off on the 10th tee, while Connolly is in the second group on the 10th tee. Petty is in the first group on the 11th tee, and Shuford is in the second group on tee number 11. Petronis is teeing off on the 12th tee.
