Lions finish 2nd shooting a three-round total of 947
SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo University women's golf standout Clare Connolly finished in first place at the University of West Florida Lady Argonaut Invitational held at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pensacola, Fla. Connolly, who came into Tuesday's final round in second place after shooting a 77 and 76 in rounds one and two, respectively, shot a third-round low score of 73 (226) en route to the win. She finished three strokes ahead of second place Daisy-May Kenny (76-75-78), of the Lady Argonauts, who shot a two-day total of 229.
As a team, the Lions finished second shooting a 947 (316-324-307), nine strokes ahead of third place Limestone who shot a 956 (330-314-312) for the two-day event.
West Florida won the tournament shooting a 926 (304-308-314).
In addition to Connolly, Saint Leo placed three other golfers in the top 15. Marie Coors finished in a tie for sixth shooting a 235 (77-84-74), while Lauren Shuford finished in 11th shooting a 241 (82-82-77), and Lauren Petty finished with a share of 15th shooting a 245 (80-82-83).
West Georgia took fourth place shooting a two-day total of 957 (321-323-313) and Northeastern State secured fifth shooting a 991 (336-324-331).
Saint Leo will get back to action April 13-15 when it takes part in the Sunshine State Conference championships at Lake Jovita Country Club.
