Lions Claim No. 10 Ranking in Newest Golf World Coaches Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. —The final Golf World/WGCA Division II College Women's Coaches' Poll of the 2013 Fall Season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine and the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Saint Leo women's golf team ranked 10th in the newest poll.

Lynn University, the defending NCAA champion, remained No. 1 in the final Golf World/WGCA women's Division II coaches' poll. The Fighting Knights opened the 2013-14 season with a runner-up finish at the Lady Falcon Invitational then proceeded to win their final three tournaments: the Guy Harvey Invitational, Saint Leo Invitational and Rock Barn Intercollegiate. Their prowess helped them claim 21 of the 22 available first-place votes.

Barry University moved up to the No. 2 spot in the latest poll with Tarleton State, Florida Tech and St. Edward's rounding out the top five. No. 16 Nova Southeastern earned the other first-place vote.

New to the top 10 were No. 7 Flagler and No. 9 California Baptist.

After a sixth place ranking in mid-October, the Saint Leo women's golf team dropped four places to the number ten spot.

During the fall season, the Lions earned two first place finishes, taking home the trophy at the Smokey Mountain Invitational and the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate.

New to the top 25 poll were No. 22 Chico State and No. 25 Augustana College.

The complete results, including results from Divisions I and III, will appear in the December 9 issue of Golf World and are live now: http://golfdig.st/PoXKuQ. For the complete poll, see below.
