Connolly, Brothers Selected to Participate in NCAA Postseason

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—Two members of the Saint Leo golf teams have been selected as individuals to compete in NCAA postseason play. Clare Connolly on the women's side and Nick Brothers of the men will both compete in the first round of the NCAA tournament next week.


The NCAA Division II women's golf super regional competition will be held on May 5-7 at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Fla., hosted by Florida Southern. Four individuals—including Connolly—were selected to compete this coming weekend at Lone Palm Golf Club. The four individuals include:


  1. Meghan Moore, UNC Pembroke
  2. Teresa Calballer Hernani, Lander
  3. Emee Herbert, Tusculum
  4. Clare Connolly, Saint Leo

The Lone Palm Golf Club is a par 72, 6,149-yard course in Lakeland, Fla. The practice round will get underway Saturday morning and the opening round of the 54-hole tournament will start on Sunday at 8:00 a.m.

The top three golfers not competing with a team will advance to the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships which will be held May 15-18, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.


The NCAA Division II men's golf regional competition is being held May 6-8 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The SSC and Central Florida Sports Commission will serve as the hosts for the South/Southeast Region tournament. In addition to Brothers, three other individuals were selected:

  1. Reed Lindsey, Delta State
  2. Nick Brothers, Saint Leo
  3. Corey Evans, West Georgia
  4. Taylor Noel, Tampa

The practice round for the men will begin on Sunday and the first round of the tournament will begin on Monday.

The top two golfers not participating with a team will advance to the national tournament held May 20-24, at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa.
