ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The women's golf team entered their final round of fall action today in third place at the Flagler Fall Slam, but finished the tournament tied for sixth place with a score of 315-316—631.
Taking home the title was Barry University, who cruised to victory after their astounding opening round score of 296. The Buccaneers shot a 307 in the final round, yet still finished 19 strokes ahead of second place Flagler. After shooting a 316 in the final round of the tournament, the Lions finished the tournament tied for sixth place with Mount Olive, who shot a 316-315—631. The Lions finished four strokes out of fifth place Armstrong Atlantic, who fired a 308 in the final round.
Individually, Lauren Petty once again had the low-card of the day with her final round score of 77. Petty finished the tournament in 5th place among individuals. Clare Connolly matched her score of 78 from the opening round to finish the tournament in a tie for 17th. Two strokes behind Connolly in the final round with card of 80 was Heather Petronis, who finished the tournament with a score of 161. Next was Laura Huertas, who shaved one stroke off of her first round score after firing an 81 in the final day. Completing the Lions was Ragna Olafsdottir who finished the tournament with 83-82—165.
The Lions now head into the offseason and will not resume tournament-play until February 25, 2013 when they head to Lakeland for the Lady Moc Classic.
