SAINT LEO, Fla. – The women's golf team finished fourth at the Saint Leo Invitational on Tuesday after the team shot a 305 in the final round for a tournament total of 302-305-607.
"Overall, I'm really pleased with the effort that the girls showed today and I think it's a nice preparation for the conference tournament that we're going to host here in April," Head Coach Erika Brennan said. "It certainly shows that we still have a lot of work to do but I'm pleased with where we are at this point in the year. These are the types of scores that we were posting in the spring last year, so to put up these types of numbers in the fall is really promising for our team. They're working hard and know what they have to do, so it's all about execution now. I think this will serve as even more motivation going forward and we'll get right back at it at Flagler looking to play well there."
Winning the team championship was Nova Southeastern who shot a 300 and 286 on each day to total a 586 for the tournament. Coming in with a 296-306—602 was Lynn University, and soaring into third place on the final day was Florida Southern, who fired a 292 and shaved 20 strokes off of their first round score.
