Lee Finishes First Round in 16th on Day One of NCAA DII Women’s Golf Championship
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Goeun Lee sits eight strokes behind the leader after the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championships. Lee fired an eight-over 80 on day one, finishing in a tie for 16th with seven other competitors after the opening round on the par-72 6283 yard Persimmon Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
Overall, Nova Southeastern holds onto the top team position after day one, bringing in a score of 20-over 308. Florida Southern sits in second with a score of 26-over 314, and Central Oklahoma finds themselves in third after carding a 34-over 322.
Individually, Abbey Gittings sits in the coveted top slot after firing an even-par 72 after the initial 18. Her teammate, Daniela Ortiz, sits in a close second with a one-over 73, followed by Florida Southern's Melanie Audette in third with a first round total of two-over 74.
Participating in the tournament as an individual competitor, and the first women's golfer from Saint Leo to earn a trip to nationals, Lee will continue her journey on Thursday morning, May 17, when she tees off on the first hole at 10:20 a.m.
