Saint Leo Holds Steady, Sits Fifth after Two Rounds at NCAA DII South Region Tourney
PACE, Fla. – Goeun Lee led the Lions for the second straight day and carded the only Eagle of the afternoon as she brought in a second-round score of three-over 75 on day two of the NCAA Division II Women's Super Region Tournament. The Saint Leo women's golf team (308-309—617) concluded the second round in fifth place overall, dropping just one spot from their first day fourth place finish.
Lee secured her Eagle on the third hole of the par-72, 6154 yard Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla., but added two strokes from day one (73-75—148) to sit eighth in the individual standings.
Clare Connolly picked up two strokes to fire a five-over 77 on day two (79-77—156), while Heather Petronis and Ragna Olafsdottir both fired a second round total of seven-over 79 and sit 26th after carding identical scores of 78-79—157.
Laura Huertas rebounded three strokes for a six-over 78 (81-78—159) on the second day, and will tee off first for the Lions on the final day of competition.
Florida Southern (302-296—598) continues to hold onto the top spot, while Barry (305-300—144), Nova Southeastern (308-300—608), and Lynn (303-311—614) come in at second through fourth, respectively. Individually, Lilliana Camisa and Abbey Gittings from Nova Southeastern hold onto the first and second slots, while Barry's Nancy Vergara sits third in the standings.
The Lions will tee off for the final round on Tuesday morning, beginning with Huertas at 9:26 a.m. Fans can catch all of the action live through LIVE STATS that will be available on the Tournament website, as well as Golfstat.
