Lions Tied for Fourth After Opening Round of NCAA South Region Tournament
PACE, Fla. - Goeun Lee led the Lions with an opening round of one-over 73 to kick off the NCAA Division II Women's Super Region Tournament on a strong note. With help from her teammates, the Saint Leo women's golf team concluded day one in a tie for fourth with reigning national champion Nova Southeastern with a score of 308. Day two is slated to take place on Monday at the par-72, 6154 yard Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, Fla.
The Lions sit behind Florida Southern, Lynn, and Barry University, who hold onto first round totals of 302, 303, and 305, respectively.
Four Lions fired scores in the seventies as Lee led the team with her one-over 73. Heather Petronis and Ragna Olafsdottir carded scores of six-over 78, while Clare Connolly finished one stroke behind the duo with a first day total of seven-over 79.
Laura Huertas rounded out the team with a nine-over 81.
The Lions will tee off on Monday morning with Nova Southeastern and Tusculum, starting at 9:26 a.m. Fans can catch all of the action live through LIVE STATS that will be available on the Tournament website.
