FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Completing the final day of the NSU Shark Invitational, the Saint Leo University women's golf team carded a total team score of 69-over 645, finishing ninth overall Tuesday afternoon at the 6,131 yard, par-72 Palmer Course at PGA National in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The Lions improved their overall day two team total by one stroke after Monday's opening round, firing a 34-over 322. Heather Petronis had a strong comeback from a day one finish of 15-over 87, rebounding nine strokes to card a six-over 78 on her second time out. The Northfield, N.J. native finished tied for third on the team, and earning a final total of 21-over 165, good for a tie at 43rd overall.
Clare Connolly and Laura Huertas led the team with a final tournament total of 16-over 160. Connolly dropped six strokes from her first day five-over 77 total, finishing day two with a mark of 11-over 83. Huertas stayed consistent, firing an eight-over 80 for the second straight day.
Goeun Lee matched Petronis' overall 21-over 165 mark, firing a 14-over 86.
Ragna Olafsdottir improved six strokes from her day one performance, registering a nine-over 81 to close out the tournament with a 24-over 168 total, good for a 48th place finish.
Host Nova Southeastern (300-294---594) claimed the team title as they posted an impressive six-over 294 to bring their final total to 18-over 594.
NSU's Daniela Ortiz claimed the individual honor, carding a three-under 69 on day two for a two-under 142 tournament total.
