Women's Golf Posts Highest-Ever Rankings in National Poll

Lions Finish 9th in Final Golfstat Rankings; Rack up Accomplishments

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Another successful year and another impressive run into the NCAA Postseason has earned the Saint Leo women's golf team a record ninth-place ranking in the last Golfstat rankings of the 2011 season.

Another 5th place finish in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament, marking the second-straight year the Lions have hit that mark, and a bid to the NCAA South Region Tournament completed a season of numerous accomplishments for the Green and Gold.  Competing in the postseason for the second year, this time in Lakeland, Fla., the Lions finished sixth in the nine-team regional tournament field.

Below are some notable accomplishments of the 2011 Saint Leo women's golf team:

• First time in program history three players ranked in the Top-70

• Finished fifth in the Sunshine State Conference Golf Championships
• Finished sixth in the NCAA South Region Tournament
• Senior Jordan Hatch shot 1-under-71 three times in 2011
• Freshman Heather Petronis named Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year
• Hatch named All-SSC Second Team member
• Petronis shots program record 3-under-69
• Hatch sets new record in season stroke average at 77.23
• Hatch sets new record in career stroke average at 78.39
• Hatch ranked in the Top-50 in the nation in 4-hole scores
• Three Lions posted average scores under 80 for the first time in history
• New top-team single round score of 299 (Fall 2010, Great Smokies Invitational)
• New team 36-hole mark of 606 (Fall 2010, Great Smokies Invitational)
