SALISBURY, N.C. – Top-ranked Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern share the lead after the first round of the 2010 NCAA II Super Region Women’s Golf Tournament, hosted by Catawba College at the 6,094-yard, Par-71 Country Club of Salisbury. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday. The top three teams and the top three individuals not a member of the three qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA II Nationals.

Playing in their first NCAA Postseason Tournament in program history, the Lions carded 322 in the first 18 holes and are currently in eighth place in the nine team field, but the most impressive individual showing came from sophomore Goeun Lee, who’s 2-over-73 has her in a tie for fourth place.  She is just two strokes out of first as Joanna Coe, of Rollins, Maha Haddioui, of Lynn, and Jessica Tarbet, of Carson-Newman, share the first round lead.

Senior Anna Riss, seeing the course for the first time as she missed Saturday’s practice round to participate in Commencement at Saint Leo, still managed to card an 81 for a 28th place finish.  Junior Suzanne Ervin is a stroke behind Riss and is in a tie for 42nd.

Jordan Hatch currently sits in 42nd after a first-round 86 and Kristina Carvalho rounds out the SLU field in 44th place with an opening-round 87.

Full field results can be found at under the NCAA D2 Women’s Super Region 2 tag.

The Lions will begin Round 2 on Monday in North Carolina.  Live scoring will be available on the GolfStat website, or at
