OCALA, Fla. – Playing in one of their toughest tournaments of their 2010 championship season, the Saint Leo women’s golf team is currently in seventh place after completing the first 18 holes of the MSU Spring Invitational hosted by Morehead State University and played at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort in Ocala, Fla.

Trailing leader Stetson University by just 13 strokes, the Lions were led by Suzanna Ervin, whose 77 put her in 14th place in the tournament.  Tricia Maloney was a refreshing surprise as she sits second on the team and is the Lions’ only other competitor to finish the first trip around the course in 22nd place with a 78.

Senior Anna Riss is third on the team and 29th overall with an 80 in the first round while Jordan Hatch’s 81 was the Lions’ last recorded card as she currently sits in 34th.

The Lions will get the second round of the tournament underway on Saturday morning.
