TAMPA, Fla. – It was decided early in the second day of the 2008 Saint Leo Invitational as one team finished 43 strokes ahead of the pack and the host Saint Leo University Lions closed out play in eighth place.
Although the Florida Southern Moccasins continued to own the leaderboard after a second day 286, taking home the team and both individual honors, the story of the tournament was the up-start hosts.
The Lions finished the day improving five strokes from their first round, finishing the day with a 328 and a tournament total of 661.
Individually for the Lions, newcomer Goeun Lee, a leader in par-5 scoring during the tournament, finished tied for 11th place with posting a second day 75, a single stroke out of the top-10. Just behind Lee was junior Anna Riss who finished with a season-low second round 77.
Tying her first day’s score was freshman Tricia Maloney who shot 84 and finished 33rd. Megan Costello and Kristina Carvalho finished out the Lions’ scoring with a 92 and 94 respectively.
The Lions will next travel to World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. as they will compete in the Flagler Fall Slam next Monday and Tuesday.
