Viera, Fla. (April 15, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team finished seventh at the 2008 Sunshine State Conference Championships with a team total of 1,037 (341-332-364) on Tuesday in Viera, Fla.  The 2008 SSC Championships was hosted by Florida Tech on the par-72, 5,994-yard layout at The Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.


No. 2 Nova Southeastern University led from wire-to-wire to claim its first-ever SSC Women’s Golf Championship with a total score of 900 (288-299-313).  The Sharks finished 10 strokes ahead of second-place and third-ranked Florida Southern College (299-305-306=910).  Top-ranked Rollins College finished third with a score of 915, while No. 4 Barry University was fourth with a 924 and No. 6 Lynn University rounded out the top five (300-313-328=941).

Sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) led Saint Leo in the championship, as she finished in 21st-place individually with a 54-hole total of 239 (77-76-86).

Nova Southeastern had four players finish in the top-10 overall to clinch the team title.  NSU individual Sandra Changkija was also the individual champion with a five-over-par total of 221 (69-76-76).
