Viera, Fla. (April 14, 2008) – The Saint Leo University women’s golf team shot a 36-hole total of 673 (341-332) and was in seventh-place following the first two rounds of the 2008 Sunshine State Conference Golf Championships in Viera, Fla. The 2008 SSC Championships is being hosted by Florida Tech on the par-72, 5,994-yard layout at The Duran Golf Club in Viera, Fla.
No. 2 Nova Southeastern University was the leader following the first two rounds of play, as the Sharks shot a team total of 587 (288-299). Third-ranked Florida Southern College was second with a 604 (299-305), while top-ranked Rollins College and No. 4 Barry University were tied for third with scores of 606. No. 6 Lynn University rounded out the top five after the first two rounds with a score of 613 (300-313).
Sophomore Anna Riss (Frankfurt, Germany) led Saint Leo on day one, as she was tied for 16th with a two round total of 153 (77-76). Nova Southeastern boasted the top two individuals after 36 holes, and had four players in the top-five overall.
The final round of the 2008 SSC Championships will be played on Tuesday at The Duran golf Club.
